Ernest Lee Johnson - Briefs Due in April

On March 29th, 2021 the Supreme Court of the United States issued an order instructing the parties in Johnson v. Precythe to issue briefs addressing the following question: Would the petitioner be barred from filing a new complaint that proposes firing squad as an alternative method? The 8th circuit court is unique in that it allows for petitioners to plead alternative methods not in the state statutes. The petitioner brief is due April 12 and the respondent brief is due April 26. This means that legal teams and advocates have additional time to stop the potential execution of Ernest Johnson.

Every day is life, and when there is life, there is hope.

Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty will continue to watch this case week by week and will keep this petition up to date. Please continue to share and sign the petition for Mr. Johnson and support the work of MADP at www.madpmo.org
