Highlights include:
no new death sentences in 2020,
no jury has imposed a death sentence since 2013, and no judge has imposed a death sentence since January 2018,
there were 19 pending cases in 2020, a decrease of 60% since 2017.
Missouri is clearly moving away from the belief that death is an appropriate punishment for first-degree murder.
