The work in Missouri as FLOCC will entail speaking out, joining in events and actions,
connecting with elected officials, and unifying the faith community; all to send a clear
message to the elected officials of this state of the reasons why state sanctioned murder is
unjust, immoral, and leads to further cycles of violence. Currently, 18 individuals are on
death row and there are 13 pending capital cases in Missouri. Six of the individuals on death
row are from Saint Louis County and two each are from Boone and Cole Counties.
Joined by Reverend Darryl G. Gray, Executive Director of Missouri Faith Voices
(missourifaithvoices.org) and Senior Pastor of Greater Fairfax Missionary Baptist
Church, who has graciously agreed to facilitate, MADP will host a FLOCC Missouri Clergy
brunch on Friday, July 15th, 2022, at the First Unitarian Church of Saint Louis, located at
5007 Waterman Blvd, Saint Louis, MO 63108 from 10am – noon. The focus of this
gathering will be to educate those in attendance about Kevin “KJ” Johnson of Saint
Louis County, whose case has and continues to be highly polarizing. KJ is facing an
execution date this year and we are diligently advocating for clemency.
In addition, national movement leaders will join MADP to discuss how faith leaders in Missouri can also
support the national movement to involve faith leaders of color in the death penalty
abolition movement.
