The Death Penalty and Race
Kentucky and North Carolina are the only two states that have Racial Justice Laws that allow statistical evidence to establish racial bias behind prosecutors seeking or jurors rendering the death penalty.
In 2007, about 80% of murder victims in crimes resulting in a death
sentence were white, even though nationally only around 50% of murder
victims are white.
